Think about your life. If you’re anything like me, it’s so easy to get down on yourself for not being perfect – not being the perfect spouse, the perfect mom, the perfect business owner, etc. We feel the need to be right all the time. Those days and feelings are real.
Those days seem to highlight all of your faults. You can’t get out of your own way. A movie reel of your failures runs through your mind. It’s life, but it can bog you down.
When I get that feeling, I sometimes change my location. I’ll work from a coffee shop. Doing this means I can take a step back.
So can you. When you get that feeling that you’re failing at EVERYTHING. Reframe it. Pause the “failure” movie reel and create one highlighting all the things you’re doing well. When you’re challenged or frustrated thinking about what’s actually happening, rather than what COULD happen.
Here are a few examples:
- You’re learning
- You’re overcoming
- You’re becoming a master at juggling
The ability to see opportunities and options in a challenge is what I call the “abundance mindset.” Understand that sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. There will always be obstacles. Here’s the thing – we’re going to be here a long time. What would you be doing if you weren’t growing, learning and being challenged?
You’re not the kind of girl who sits on the couch and watches the days pass. Today, make that list of all the things you’re doing well. Hold on to that when you’re feeling challenged and know that you’ve got this girl. You’ve got every challenge life throws at you.
