Reality time. Some of you may not like this truth bomb, but I think it will radically change your perspective and maybe even give you the jolt you need to switch your mindset and reach your goals.

Success is accessible for everyone, but not everyone will achieve success. And here’s the thing, it’s not because of the outside world, it’s not because you weren’t set up for it in childhood. It’s because you’re CHOOSING not to succeed.

Success might be hard for you if you’re always leading with an excuse. This sounds like “I can’t… because…” Sure, there may be some truths in there, but lead with the excuse is a barrier to success. You need to flip this. Shift your mindset. The “I can’t” story will not bring you the life you want. Switch it to “I could” or “I will” and “first, I need _____” See the difference?

Success will be hard if you if you refuse to invest in yourself. Buy the books, take the classes, go to the conferences – if you’re not willing to make those investments in yourself, no one else is going to either. Where you are now is not enough to get where you want to be – you have to learn, grow, stretch yourself and it’s up to YOU to do that yourself. Those who are constantly learning and growing are the ones who succeed. Don’t let money be a barrier. Use the library, borrow notes from someone else and as soon as you have the money, invest it in yourself.

Success might be hard for you if you expect things from others. If you expect them to support you and cheer you along, I’m here to tell you, my friend, it’s not going to happen. It’s not the job of the external world to be your cheerleader. Truly, it’s not their job to even like what we have to offer. It’s YOUR job. You are your biggest ally – you either make your success possible or stand in your own way. Do not wait for the world to give you what you want – you’ll be waiting a long time. Give those things to yourself!

Success may be hard for you if you sit back and wait for them to arrive on your doorstep. Action – YOUR action is required to make success happen. Success comes to those who are seeking, those who fall in love with the process. Even you’re lucky enough to have an opportunity fall in your lap, you still have to grab hold of it, nurture it, and make something happen with it.

Success is going to be hard for you if you’re not willing to commit. The universe rewards those who commit, who are engaged in what they’re doing and demonstrate it with consistent, persistent actions. Commitment isn’t a fair-weather thing. It’s day in, day out, long after the motivation to do it has ebbed away. Daily persistence and commitment over a LONG period of time – that’s what brings about success. The universe is waiting to see if you’ll do it when it hurts, when you don’t feel like it, when you’re starting to question if you’re on the right path, even though your heart knows it is…

The people who succeed make these daily committed actions NO MATTER WHAT. They don’t wait for support or a pat on the back. They just do it.

It is YOUR decision and YOUR choice. Success is up to YOU. It’s waiting for you to grab it. So start today my friend!
